SPFW - looks

I have to admit it was hard to photograph every look I wanted in this SPFW (specially because is one of the only weeks of the year I have the pleasure to see a lot of decent outfits at the same place), but I could catch some of the looks I liked.
Although I was pretty impressed by the number of winter outfits I saw in the middle of our Brazilian summer, I am happy to say some of the people actually know what the word summer means...

People who knows what "summer" means:

Some other looks I liked:

And my favorite one:
I immediately recognized the Yves Saint Lauren shoes I've seen in this blog a couple of months ago and the owner of the shoes (for my delight) is a reader of cupcakes and cashmere as well...

SPFW - winter 2011

Starting today, I'll take a break on uploading my NY photos to post a little about what I've been doing on this Sao Paulo Fashion Week.
I don't have a lot of fashion shows photos but I have a litttle to say about the ones I watched....
I really enjoyed the fashion show of Cori this season. I could mainly see a lot of black, red and vibrant yellow on some details. The modern outfits had a lot of tulle too...

brieth art

Usually a fan of classics, being in a place filled with modern art was the best refresh I've had in a while. Although classic artists always bring me to a world I've never been, seeing some stuff made of alive-anonymous people made me feel comfortable, as if my thoughts were inside other people's head too.

Plus, learning to paint made me look at the paintings in a detailed way I've never done before and I felt exhausted only when thinking about painting all that for a lot of people (that not always really care about your art) to look at it.

I hope it inspires you too!

I guess now I am a fan of modern art...

Look around

Altough I have to admit I am pretty distracted, I made an effort to look around and photograph everything I liked the past ten days. The fact that New York is an amazing-inspiring-fashion city isn't an excuse for me not to photograph around when I'm home, so I'll try to post more often this year; but the fact that I was there helped me to open my eyes and look for some inspiration.

These are some of the things I saw and instantly photographed

I'll manage to post all I got the past days as soon as I can :]

Rainy Evening founds

If there's one thing I love is to do fashion research. I don't need to buy things to have fun but to look for inspiration in stores watching the way people dress and the way the clothes are designed can make my day happier.
This week, when I finally realized I'm on vacation, I spent the afternoon walking around. Not only I discovered an amazing store, I couldn't help myself from taking photos of my favorite things around. Hope it inspires you too!

This basic and expensive T-shirt carries one phrase that called my attention for being exactly what I think about when choosing an outfit.

I fell in love with these martini colorful skirts....

Shuffle Stuff

Maybe it is a lot of information on only one post but as I am not posting too much recently, I decided to resume my last month with some nice things I noticed around.

this nice outfit called my attention this week while I was walking on my way to buy cupcakes. My friend asked me if I didn't find it tacky but "different" is a way I found to describe it better.
a nice wall of Bienal
to white dresses on two little girls at Bienal
a great sense of style on a 5-year-old-girl that happens to be my sister. (I loved the hair and the rainbow skirt)
rainbow nails painted by me
a nice old telephone I found out (it happens to be one of my new vintage addictions)
a notebook for a friend made by me
cute bracelets
my friends heart shoe I just loved
the amazing polka-dot shoes I bought when remembered about an article I read about Tom shoes

Saved by the old

Last saturday night, while spending our usual hours before the party talking and getting ready, I suddenly opened my friend's wardrobe wondering if I could change my outfit (and help Lau to choose her own) but I couldn't find something that seemed right to wear.

Lately I've been looking forward all kind of vintage stuff and the idea of sneaking into her mother's closet and trying to find something else to wear was exactly what we needed to have a couple hours of fun. The outfits are a result of one of the looks we chose and, as we liked, decided to take some pictures.

One thing I could discover this Saturday: my addiction on finding old "vintage" stuff around the house was way better than spending an evening at the shopping.

my outfit (left) includes Lau's grandma's purse and a beige lace skirt used as a dress.

Sweet Sixteen

While most people go to Disneyland for their Sweet Sixteen present, I got something a little different, but that couldn't make me happier. It happens that making handmade dresses takes too much time (something I don't usually have due to tones of daily homework), so having a sewing machine sounded like a dream.
Fortunately, that was a dream that could come true (differently from all my no-material dreams that seem not to be realized) and this weekend I found myself enjoying my present.
For the ones that thought it couldn't get better, as I got home friday night I had a dummy as another present waiting for me.
I have to thank my grandparents and my friend Ma for the amazing presents :]

Growing, Dressing, Noticing

It's weird to even think about it, but I'm starting to feel useless. While before I could notice my help was almost required for my family to dress up (not that they always followed my fashion advices), now I'm starting to loose space. Of course I still see some lame looks coming from the streets but from my family, I can't even complain.

What makes me more surprised is that my not-too-little sister has lately started dressing so cute. I am starting to be so proud of recognizing on her some personal style that I decided to post some clothes I've seen on her lately. And I have to admit seeing her cute girly looks at 6 am at morning is one of the reasons I get to smile on my way to school...

Another thing i've been noticing is my instant desire to photograph people I see on the streets, so one of the things I've been wishing is I could have a camera with me all the time, just to photograph this people with looks that really inspire me.
Unfortunately, I can't photograph anyone I see (at least without permission) so I make an effort to feel happy photographing people I know. My friends do have a pretty good taste on clothes and one of my new hobbies may be to photograph them...
this is the first look from a friend that I decided to photograph. thanks to Bru!

Wonder

I know. It's been a long time. It's not about not having enough things to post or not having enough time, it's just a transition my mind seems to be having.
I've been just thinking about everything, asking the world all the reasons we are here and everytime I was going to write something I asked myself: "Do I really feel like posting this? Is this what I wanna be?" and then I just stopped and could do nothing. I just wanted all that questions to get out my head.
No music, no drawings, no posts, nothing. I was tired of thinking.
But suddenly I realized I couldn't change what I wanted to. My school wouldn't stop giving me homework and tests, my hair wouldn't wake up nicer, my clothes wouldn't change suddenly and nice books wouldn't appear near my bed for me to read them. So slowly I started to realize if I wanted something I'd have to go and get it, and that's what I started doing.
For now I guess all I want is a little of peace, so I am just living, letting it be. I know it seems weird but I am trying to consider it a break of my life. After all, school is ending... ...and summer is coming...

This is how my house looks like. I just moved and the view from my bedroom is not very pleasing yet...

they just painted the wall of my little gray house, and now it's all painted in the same pastel color, like any other house. It's boring.

Funny Pasta

When I was told we were going to have pasta for dinner, I didn't think twice before asking for my usual salad, but as I sat on the table and realized how different that colorful foods was, I forgot about any possible kind of lettuce and became excited to help to cook the dinner.

It was about a lot of different shapes and colors of pasta, shaped like stars and eiffel towers. Of course the sauce covered it in a minute but watching that funny pasta being cooked was the top pleasure of that wednesday night.
